The hides
Two hides for nature photography
The WWF Oasis La Malcontenta e il Lupo has two hides for professional nature photography.
The hides have been designed to have the least possible impact on the surrounding environment: they are anchored to the ground with metal screws and placed in areas that are suitable for wildlife observation but where no substantial changes to the ecosystem were needed.
It is we who adapt to the environment and not the other way round. The same should always happen when practising nature photography: you immerse yourself in an environment, you are a guest, you observe, you are patient and finally you shoot.
When you are alone in a natural environment, the silence, the moving of branches and shrubs, the smells, the sound of small animal footsteps, birds suddenly taking flight from a tree, everything makes our wait unique, and it does not matter if we fail to take the photo we wanted: the great raptor will come, and meanwhile today it was the particular light striking a fern that opened up our imagination. In the end, if you love nature, you are repaid for everything.
The forest hide

Hide number 1 (the forest hide) is in a wooded environment, immersed among the trees. The hide is equipped with a light bulb powered by a solar panel, a stool and a shelf to rest on. From the hide you can reach a stream along a steep path. The area is rich in mustelids and ungulates, as well as nocturnal birds of prey.
The wells hide

Hide number 2 (the wells hide) is in a small clearing reached by crossing another wood in the Oasis. All the woods of the protected area are left to evolve naturally. This wood, facing north, opens at the end of the slope into a small open area. The area is surrounded by ferns, horsetails and bramble bushes. Many diurnal birds of prey fly over the clearing. Roe deer and fallow deer, badgers, porcupines, martens and squirrels are also very frequent. Here too a stool and a shelf are available.
Using the hides
The hides also have a sliding opening in the roof so that you can frame birds in flight.
The openings of each hide are fitted with camouflage curtains and the windows are at different heights, including at floor level.
During the year, nature photography courses with professional photographers will be organised.
