Naturalistic excursion in the WWF affiliated Oasis La Malcontenta e il Lupo

Immerse yourself in the forest, arrive at the stream, in a conservation area normally with restricted access.





The excursion is exclusive because it is limited in number, and because it will take place in a conservation area not normally open to the public.We are talking about a group of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 people.


ENVIRONMENT

The WWF Oasis is a protected area that includes several habitats of naturalistic value. It is home to a wide variety of environments rich in biodiversity: typical wetland environments, naturally evolving forests, climatic inversion phenomena, and ecosystems that are home to flora and fauna of considerable interest, including an abundance of wild orchids.

CONSERVATION

Areas that are not normally open to the public play a role of primary importance, as they protect areas of great naturalistic value and are useful for scientific research. This is why forests are naturally evolving, because nature is studied as it naturally evolves, lives, because only under these conditions we can truly understand how it behaves and make important discoveries that involve our own life and health. Old trees and forests, floristic entities that are rare or at the limit of their distribution range, well-preserved ecosystems protected at European level are just some of the reasons why an environment is 'conserved'. It is also conserved in order to enrich neighbouring environments, to rebalance other ecosystems, so that, in the end, everyone can enjoy it, and every form of life can benefit from the other in complete respect. We are in a precious territory rich in biodiversity.

  • The excursion foresees a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 participants.
  • To take part it is necessary to book using the BOOKING button.
  •  The excursion into the woods will be done off the trail.
  • In the whole area of the nature reserve it is not possible, to introduce dogs (even on a leash) or other pets.

PHILOSOPHY

At the WWF Oasis La Malcontenta e il Lupo we immerse ourselves in nature with complete respect for the environment and the wildlife that inhabits it. The insects we may encounter are of value to the functioning of the ecosystem. The animals are not disturbed. Knowing that they are there, just a stone's throw away, even if we do not see them, makes us more aware and richer.Pets cannot be brought along for scientific reasons and so as not to create conflict with the wildlife, which is very sensitive to any kind of solicitation from 'newcomers' to its territory.

Book your excursion to the WWF Oasis and bring your camera and binoculars if you wish.

PARTICIPATE

The fee you pay also serves to cover the running costs of the WWF Oasis and the conservation projects. What you spend on enrolment will therefore also serve in part to support the WWF Oasis and its scientific research and dissemination activities.

When you do enter, as on these occasions, groups are always very small, maximum 5 people

08:45 A.M. RESTART OF ACTIVITY WITH HIKE TO THE RIVER - Total length of route: 3 kilometres (1.5 km outward, 1.5 km return).

COMPULSORY CLOTHING

HIKING SHOES, COMFORTABLE AND PRACTICAL CLOTHING, WATER BOTTLE, WATER, RUCKSACK, HAT, WATERPROOF WINDBREAKER, PROTECTIVE SUN CREAM.


THE HIKE PRESENTS THE NORMAL DIFFICULTIES THAT CAN BE ENCOUNTERED WHEN HIKING IN A FOREST, CAUTION IS RECOMMENDED DURING THE WALK.



THE EXPERIENCE INVOLVES WALKING IN THE FOREST OFF THE TRAIL AND ON STEEP TERRAIN. IN THE FINAL PART OF THE ROUTE, THE GRADIENT INCREASES AND PARTICULAR CAUTION MUST BE EXERCISED. YOU WILL ALSO CROSS AREAS WITH HIGH GRASS.

HOW TO GET THERE

For those coming from the North or South, take the Ponterio exit of the E-45 state road and then continue towards Orvieto (SS448), and turn following the signs for Porchiano - Asproli.

If your navigator tries to make you turn onto gravel or dirt roads, do not take them. Always follow only the main tarmac road and the road signs indicating Porchiano and Asproli.

La Malcontenta e il Lupo is located just after the church in the village of Asproli. As soon as you pass the church, the road begins to descend. Drive down it for 125 metres and you will see the sign for La Malcontenta e il Lupo on the left. You have arrived.
